PU Flooring

Polyurethane (PU) coating is essentially a type of plastic material or polymer that is formed by combining polyols with diisocyanates through the use of necessary catalysts or additives. Polyurethane coating is an excellent way to add strength and beauty to the floor of our homes, offices, and manufacturing plants. Polyurethane coating is an excellent solution for floors that need to be waterproof, stain-resistant, or slip-resistant.

Variants of PU Flooring

PU is a lightweight and versatile water-repellent material that is used for flooring applications for commercial, industrial and residential purposes. There 3 major categories of PU Flooring.

  • Normal PU Flooring
  • PU Concrete
  • Poly Urea Flooring

PU Concrete

PU-Concrete formed by combining polyurethane along with cement. A combination of cement & water forms concrete whereas NCO & OH groups combine to form PU . Polyurethane concrete has many benefits, including its strength, versatility, and ability to be used in various situations. PU concrete is durable, resistant, and waterproof for any industry, business and private sector. Its properties make it perfect for floor surfaces in high-traffic areas.

It combines hardness and flexibility with concrete, making surfaces perfectly resistant to corrosion, abrasion, moisture, or UV rays. If anyone is looking to improve the appearance of the floor & quality, then this is the exact perfect solution.

PolyUrea Flooring

Poly urea is the subset of polyurethanes, which works similarly to PU coating when applied over concrete floors. It is formed by the reaction of a multifunctional amine with an isocyanate. The only difference between PU Concrete & Polyurea is that polyurea is slightly on the expensive side in comparison to polyurethane. Polyureas can resist highly harsh environments and cure easily in comparison to Polyurethanes.

Although it might lose its gloss after a certain amount of rigorous use. It is easy to install & works in industries involving construction applications, bridges, car parks, decks or roof repairs.

Advantages Of PU Flooring

PU flooring has been used for decades, and over fifty years, it has become the most standard type of surface in the world. With its modern and durable design, it is sure that this floor will serve a long time. Here are some advantages:

  • Sustainable & Durable: It is a more sustainable option than other floorings, durable, and easier to maintain. It's even resistant to wear and tear.
  • Fire Resistant: Polyurethane flooring is also fire-resistant, which means achieving complete evacuation during an emergency is possible.
  • Insulation Properties: PU flooring also boasts excellent sound insulation qualities, keeping the workplace or commercial buildings quiet even after extended wear.
  • Moisture Resistant: Polyurethane's most obvious advantage is its moisture resistance.
